Conference Grants

The GEA offers funding to LSOE graduate students who are both attending and/or presenting at professional conferences. To receive funding, students must complete a Conference Grant Application and submit the required forms and necessary receipts to be reimbursed for their expenses up to the allocated amount of the grant after attending the conference.

To apply, please complete the Conference Grant Application online.  Although the GEA is committed to funding as many students as possible, there is a limit to the amount of grants that can be disbursed each semester. All applications will be reviewed, but not all will be awarded grants. To improve your opportunities for funding, we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Funds are primarily rewarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

When approved for a conference grant, students receive an email indicating the sum of the grant as well as important information and instructions for receiving reimbursement. These instructions must be followed properly for reimbursements to be processed.

Funding

Each LSOE student may receive up to $100 in awarded grants. Only virtual events will receive reimbursements. Amounts can only be used to cover registration expenses. No travel or hotel expenses will be covered this year due to COVID-19. The GEA is helping Boston College by limiting travel for safety and health reasons. If your conference cost exceeds $100 please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will do our best to provide adequate funding.

Please note:

Each student may only be rewarded one conference grant per semester. Summer conferences are counted as fall semester grants.

Reimbursement may take several weeks before fully processed in the system.

Application Periods

Conference Grant Applications must be submitted by the appropriate deadline for approval:

  • September 1st to November 1st, 2020 for Fall 2020 conferences
  • December 1st to April 1st, 2021 for Spring 2021 conferences

Applications received after the related deadline may still be reviewed if and only if there are additional funds available after approving applications received by the appropriate deadline. All applications should be submitted at least one week in advance of the conference/workshop you plan to attend.
